Mangalore: SSLC Examination: Vigilance Squads, Prohibitory Orders in Place

Mangalore, Mar 26: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj has informed, that special Vigilance Cells and  Committee have been formed to ensure that the SSLC examination that will be under way from the 30th of this month, will go on smoothly, bereft of any malpractices like copying.

Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code will be in force for a radius of 200 metres of each of the examination centres. The photocopy shops functioning near the centres have been ordered to be closed down from half an hour before the start of the examination to half an year after its conclusion on all days of the examinations, he explained.

Vigilance Committees have been formed at the taluk level too. The committees will be headed by the deputy commissioner and the chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat at the district level.  The people who have complaints about copying, irregularities and other complaints about the conduct of the SSLC examination may call the toll-free No. 1077 in the office of the Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Phone No.9448999337 of the deputy director of public instruction, 9449664112 of the examination nodal officer, 9480695159 in Mangalore taluk, 9448152791 in Puttur taluk, 9480695160 in Moodbidri, 9480695156 in Bantwal taluk, 9448326048 in Sullia taluk and 9480695157 in Beltangady taluk may be contacted for registering complaints or irregularities.

All over the district, 60 teams have been formed to regulate copying. The district has 92 examination centres. A total of 33,739 students will be taking the SSLC examination from the district this year.
