Belagavi, Apr 25: War of words between Jarkiholi brothers continued on second day, leaving the state level leaders of the government worried. The Jarkiholi brothers, in spite of following different political ideologies in the past, had earlier put up a united front but now they seem to be engaged in a no-holds-barred war of wits. The leaders of the coalition are now sniffing the danger the fight might pose to the stability of the government.

Speaking to media persons before leaving for Bengaluru on Wednesday April 24, Ramesh Jarkiholi accused his brother, Sathish Jarkiholi, of being responsible for giving rise to differences of opinion between the brothers. "When I was the minister, Sathish came to me with tears in his eyes, and provocated me to start the rebellion. I have been cheated by him now. He is a tiger posing as a cow," he stated. He said MLA, Dr Sudhakar, knows this truth and his son-in-law, Ambirao Patil, has no role in this controversy as alleged by Sathish.

Ramesh said that he and his supporting MLAs have decided to resign together. He said he will fight the by-poll from Gokak and then change his constituency to Yamakanamaradi or some other constituency, leaving Gokak to his brother, Lakhan.

Sathish retorts

Sathish Jarkiholi said he does not take statement of Ramesh seriously as he is a liar and legislator without commitment. "His specialty is that he never does what he promises," he commented.

Sathish felt that Ramesh is behaving this way perhaps because he has lost something. He said he was silent without any ministerial position for three years, and that now he is capable to handle adverse situations. On the issue of Ramesh fighting from Yamakanamaradi constituency in the next election, Sathish said there is still time and this issue will be considered when the election approaches near. He asked Ramesh to choose a particular party, and blamed him for being in the Congress and campaigning for the BJP. He asserted that Ramesh's resignation will have no impact on the government's survival.
