Mangaluru: Fani cyclone fails to bring rains in coast, hot weather continues

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, May 4: The meteorologists had predicted that Fani cyclonic storm wound bring rain in coastal Karnataka but the people from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts who were waiting for relief from sweltering heat and water woes, have been disappointed. It was expected that Fani would result in rainfall here for two to three days but because its course turned towards the northeast, it is said, the coast did not get rainfall.

A few days back, scientists had said that a trough had been formed over Arabian Sea and the coast would get rain. This prediction also did not materialize.

'Fani' hit Odisha coast on Friday morning and has been bringing rain in that state. It is now moving towards West Bengal and therefore, Karnataka coast getting influenced by this cyclonic storm are bleak, the meteorological department stated. Earlier, the scientists had expected the cyclone to hit Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coast, which would have created depression over Arabian Sea and resulted in rainfall in coastal Karnataka.

Fishing activity in the coastal districts has been continuing unhindered. The department however, has asked the fishermen to be careful.

There was cloudy weather in the coast on Friday morning and evening. The temperature in the coast, which reached 36 degree Celsius on Friday, is expected to go up further.

During the 24-hour period ended 8.30 am on Friday, the entire state experienced dry weather. In some north interior places of the state, the maximum temperature underwent drastic decline. There was not much difference in climatic conditions in the coast. Kalaburagi recorded highest temperature in the state of 41.1 degree Celsius.

How easily we are blaming nature. We humans destroyed our nature by cutting trees & flattening hills.
still expecting rain. we must join together to make green while government ignore it. Media must work for this to save our beautiful nature.
