Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (MS)

Puttur, May 7: One person died on the spot and four people sustained serious injuries when a car veered from the road as the driver lost the control and fell into a deep ditch by the roadside. This tragic incident occurred on the noon of Tuesday, May 7 at the Shiradi Market on the national highway of Mangaluru-Bengaluru.

It is reported that the passengers of the car were of Bengaluru origin and were travelling from Dharmasthala to Kukke. Sunil, a resident of Bengaluru, is the unfortunate victim who lost his life in the accident.

The car fell into a 20 feet deep ditch. The car has been completely mangled due to the impact of the fall.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The ditch, in which the car fell, is a dangerous one. During the Shiradi Ghat work, this place was dug in order to construct a drain but was stopped halfway. A few days ago, a bike rider also fell in the same ditch and was injured seriously. The public is expressing their anger against the concerned department for their irresponsibility.

As per the write up here : "During the Shiradi Ghat work, this place was dug in order to construct a drain but was stopped halfway". If the roads are not safe enough for vehicles to move, why it is opened.
Why the Contractor has not filled the dug up area, if the work is not completed.

Just like the civil authorities are guilty; same way even the contractor too is guilty. Unfortunately we live in a society where no community feeling and respect to others.

I pray for travelers, who travel in this road from B.C. Road to Shiradi, please be careful. Watch out both edges of the road, you never know where are ditches, drains, etc.

Local need to put caution signboards.

Sainik mangalore arrest the contractor and push him too in this ditch to understand what he has done with his half done work .He should be also fined to pay the compansation to the families who suffered and died.RIP.

First of all who gave the road free for traffic ,should be questioned.where there no side railings as protectors on the road side?how can a car simply fly over the hump?was it too fast or long driving for hours made him tired,?sometimes long driving ,without rest ,makes one so tired ,and say minutes sleep, comes over and driver without his knowledge close his eyes and the catastroph is already taken place.so must have happened.?Heartfelt sympathys to the family.
