Panaji, Apr 21: Goa will have to manage the Lok Sabha election in its both constituencies without any paramilitary forces’ backup.

A senior election official told reporters on Monday that the Election Commission has declined to give paramilitary forces to Goa, as the state goes to poll on April 23.

Returning Officer  K S Singh told reporters that the Goa officials will handle polling without paramilitary back up entirely based on the state police force.

The state, which is witnessing, Congress versus BJP, fight in both the constituencies had asked for 12 paramilitary companies. But the request was refused by the EC.

Replying to a question, Singh justified the EC’s decision stating that dependence on paramilitary forces should be decreased and more stress should be given on `micro observers’ and videography in the polling booths.

Singh conceded that the EC’s decision not to post forces in the state was fall out of the peaceful electioneering witnessed in the coastal state.
 
Except charges of violation of code of conduct, the run up to the election was completely peaceful.
