Bengaluru: Homework for std I and II students - Govt warns schools of cancellation of accreditation

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jun 2: The state government has once again warned the management of schools of cancelling the accreditation given to them if they give homework to students of first and second standards.

The state government has already sent an order on May 3 stating that from the academic year of 2019-20 homework should not be given to students. But the private and aided schools had challenged the order of the government at that time. So, the government has given strict second warning to all the schools.

In a revised order that was sent on May 31, the government has instructed that the accreditation of the schools can be cancelled of they give homework to students of first and second standards and also if they teach any lessons other than prescribed by the The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for students of first to fifth standards.

For the students of first and second standards except language and Maths and for students of third to fifth standards except language, environmental science and Maths, none of the other subjects have to be taught. The government has given instructions to the commissioner of the education department, project director and deputy directors to keep a strict vigil on schools which teach any subject apart from the one prescribed by the board.

The educational system in India should be revamped. Too much emphasis on rote learning and very little application based learning. Primary classes should be dedicated to creativity, nurturing talents , etiquette , sports etc . Hope the new government will take some steps to change our outdated system of education

The primary level schooling was a system started in the West a couple of hundred years ago, when there was no further education after that. That was the entire school system of the era.

It serves no purpose today - other than providing income to education businesses, and employment to the teachers.

The primary level students should remain at home, and learn the three Rs (Reading, 'R'iting, and 'R'ithmatic) from the parents, or someone assisting the parents.

By being with the parents (especially educated ones) the children will really learn something.
