Mangaluru: Man cheated of Rs 13.63 lac by ‘customs officials’ through Facebook

Mangaluru, Jun 6: Unidentified persons who got in touch with a person from the city through Facebook defrauded him to the tune of Rs 13, 62,800. It is gathered that these persons claimed themselves to be customs officials and the rightful claimants of a box containing dollar currency that they said had arrived from a foreign country, and obtained loan of Rs 13, 62,800 from him.

A complaint in this connection has been registered in the cyber crimes police station in the city in this respect.

The complainant said that Jain Poojary and some others, who got introduced to him in Facebook, had fleeced him. The accused and the complainant had become friends on Facebook since January this year. The cyber police, who received the complaint, are investigating.

    This is nothing but recent look sabha election effect, people were listening continued fake promises and lengthy bhashans...still that hangover is on.

    How people from most educated district in the state can get fooled by unknown and unseen Facebook contacts to part with such large amounts of money. How one can believe that box with dollars get shipped to customs staff. God help this country. No doubt that namma nechina Mangalore has now become Manga gala Uru. Anyway not to worry the promised 15 lakh to every account on the way to compensate the loss. ......Jai ho....!!!!!
