Dubai : Rang Tarang - Famad Fernal Presents Entertainment Fest

Dubail, May 2: Fatima Maicho Suvaad, FAMAD Pernal, Dubai, presented ‘Rang Tarang – 2009’ on Friday May 1, 2009 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium. Rang Tarang, a mixture of Sangeeth Sauvad, Famad Dance Challenge 2009, and a drama titled 'Chintun Polle' entertained the crowd.
The programme started with the prayer, rendered on flute and Tabla by Shree Kumar and Sameer, followed by lighting of the lamp by the main sponsor of the event, Micheal D'Souza of Humaid Al Suwaidi, Joseph Mathias, managing director of Merit Freight Systems and Natalia Madtha, on behalf of Integrated Freight and Logistics.
The entertainment session started off with welcome song by Famad Pernal. Sangeeth Suvaad began with a popular song 'Suryo Budon' sung by Rony Byndoor and Lydwin Cutinha, followed by 'Dekhnni' - 'Haanv Saibha Polthodi Vetam' folk song. Pangalites dancers danced for this number. This was followed by 'Tujevinn' sung by Asha Fernandes. Dinesh Correa sang Lawrence Saldanha's 'Hai Bai Hai' song . 'Ocean Kids' dancers gracefully gyrated to the tunes of this song. Veera Rodrigues, another promising singer, sang Lorna's 'Kalzanth Tavn Mog Kelo' song.
Dony Correa's entry on to the stage was dramatic and unique, as he emerged from the middle of the crowd and rendered 'Jasmina' and 'Roseline' Songs, folowed by the title song of 'Mogachim Lharan' along with Lydwin. A Tulu Song 'Radha Radha' was melodiously sung by Dony and Asha Correa.
'Ago Bai' song from the album, 'Mog Ason' and 'Darya Kuxin' song, were sung by Dony and group, while the Ocean Kids dancers came up with a beautiful dance for this song. Dony and Asha then sang a Kannada Song 'Shilegalu Sangeethava Haadive' and Deeksha D'Mello won the hearts of the crowd by presenting classical Bharatanatyam dance for this song.
The 'Sangeeth Suvaad' session concluded with Maando, sung by Dony and group with Ramesh Nair's ‘Dance Galaxy’ performing the dance for the song.

Before the start of the second session, 'Famad Dance Challenge 2009', main sponsors of the event were felicitated.
Famad Pernal felicitated well known Konkani dramatist Francis Fernandes Cascia for his achievement in Konkani theatre. Dayan D'Souza accepted the honour on behalf of Francis Fernandes in his absence.
Daijiworld.com's Walter Nandalike was honoured for his meritorious service in Mangalorean media worldwide. Wilma D'Souza Nandalike accepted the honour, as Walter was out of station.
Noted singer Vincent Fernanades Cascia was felicitated for his contribution to the field of Konkani music. He was awarded the title, 'King of Tunes' by Famad Pernal.
Famad Pernal also felicitated Marian D'Souza, who had flown in to Dubai from Kuwait, specially to witness this event.
The second session of 'Rang Tarang', started with Asha Correa, compere of the session, introducing the judges, Namitha, Ramesh Nair (ex dance director of Nach Sobhann), Harsha and The Power Man, RJ of Radio 4 FM. Eight finalists presented their ever-best performances in a bid to win the dance competition and the bounty that was attached with the title, 'Konkani Naach Kunvor/ Kunvorn 2009'.
Gavin Rodrigues emerged as the winner, by annexing the title, 'Konkani Nach Kunvor 2009' along with a trophy and AED 3003/- in cash. Delvina D'Souza won the first runner up trophy and AED 2002/- in cash, while Clarissa Fernandes won the second runner-up trophy and AED 1001/- in Cash. The ‘Best Costume’ award was won by Gavin Rodrigues and Vinod Sequeira won the 'Best Choreographer' award for the dance choreographed for Gavin Rodrigues.
Co-sponsors and support sponsors were felicitated before the beginning of the third session.
'Chintun Polle', a Konkani play, written by Dony Correa and directed by Vishwanath Shetty, won the hearts of the audiences. Pokri Pernal artistes once again proved that they have plenty of talents in them, with their touching performance. After the play was enacted, Vishwanth Shetty, director of the play and Kethan D'Souza, music director of the play, were felicitated for their valuable contribution to the success of the play.

Famad Fernal, a team of young enthusiasts living in UAE and hailing from Pernal parish (Udupi district) of Mangalore diocese, put in Herculean efforts to ensure the success of this event. Stage setting and organizing skills of Famad Pernal was appreciated by every one in the crowd, which was over 1000 strong, that sat glued to their seats as the fest of entertainment unfolded in front of their eyes, right from 5.00 pm to 11.00 pm.
