Mumbai, Jun 25: A mother and son’s bodies were found on Tuesday at their residence in Mumbai’s Mira Road area.
Based on a suicide note that was recovered from the man’s laptop, police are suspecting that the boy killed his mother before taking his own life.
The two deceased have been identified as 75-year-old Meenakshi Iyer and 42-year-old Vaikateshwaran Gopal Iyer.
Police official, Shekhar Dombe said, “We received information from the neighbours who complained about a foul smell emanating from Iyer's flat. We immediately reached the spot and found both mother and son dead in their flat.”
While there were no injury marks on the man’s body, his mother’s body was found to be lying in a pool of blood, said the neighbours who witnessed the scene as the police broke into the house.
The residents claimed that the Iyers were not seen in the building premises for four days.
The Iyers contract with their landlord had lapsed in April. However, the deceased son stated he had prior engagements and sought two months to vacate the flat. The Iyers who had moved to Mumbai in 2017, were residing in Marigold Apartments on Mira Road area.
