New Delhi, Jun 25: In a bid to make Parliamentary sessions more productive, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a cabinet meet has advised his MP's to take up non-controversial legislation's first in the Parliament. PM made the suggestion days after the Triple Talaq bill introduced by the government was opposed by the opposition parties.

Last week, the treasury benches had sought to make a political point with the Triple Talaq bill, arguing that the government’s massive mandate was a thumbs up for the legislation. There is a view in the government that introducing such bills would create controversy and come in the way of other legislative business.

Modi's suggestion indicates that the PM wants the Parliament to be productive hence the Centre may keep controversial bills on the back burner for the moment and look to capitalize on a productive start to the 17th Lok Sabha with Rajya Sabha also conducting business, in contrast to the persistent logjam that was witnessed before the elections.
