Hyderabad, Jun 29: An Indian Police Service trainee has received a notice from his official for keeping his hands in his pockets when a senior officer's car was passing by. The incident took place last week on Saturday June 22. The act by the trainee has been referred to as an act of indiscipline and misconduct.
The trainee was undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad. After completing over 22 months of training, the trainee was on his way to become the assistant superintendent of police in a matter of two months.
The notice issued to him in the light of his behaviour read, 'It has been observed that around 9.45 am on Saturday you were standing in front of SOs mess keeping both your hands in pant pockets. Though you were aware of the fact that a faculty car is passing by, you continued in the same posture (all the time looking at the car) without offering appropriate respect. This, prima facie, is an act of indiscipline and misconduct'.

The trainee then received two days (from the date of issue) to reply to the notice. In the event if he fails to respond, suitable action would be carried out against him.
According to senior officials, academy issues memos to trainees if they are found coming late to class, caught with mobile phones or found disrespecting officers. The academy also teaches them to respect seniors and return the compliments. Whenever a trainee is found violating these basic rules, a memo is issued in which an explanation is demanded.
Further, the official said that if the explanation given by the trainee is considered valid, the issue notice will be dismissed. However, the official said that steps like these are necessary in order to prepare the trainees for the real world.
