Mumbai, Jun 30: A 28-year-old senior researcher was molested by an inebriated man on Carter Road in the city on Friday, June 28.
The lady was taking her morning walk at 6.30 am, when she was suddenly pounced and dragged into the nearby bushes by a drunkard and molested. Though the researcher cried for help, the passers-by on the walking track just ignored her, though they heard her scream. The lady had a scuffle with the molester and escaped from the spot and went directly to the Khar police station. The quick action by the police led to the arrest of the culprit within 30 minutes.
As per the details, the young lady was taking walk along with her brother. However, she could not keep pace with him as she suffers from asthma. When she approached a dog park, she saw a man walking unsteadily in front of her. She politely asked the concerned man to walk on a straight line on one side of the road. The man did not pay heed to her advice and continued to walk in the same manner and also gave an angry look to her and also was looking at her repeatedly.
The lady was bewildered by the repeated gazes of the man and started to walk faster in a bid to avoid him. However, the man approached her swiftly and pulled her aside into the bushes and tried to kiss her. The lady says, "The man dragged me into the bushes and put his right hand over my neck, tried to get closer and kiss me. Though people looked into the bush and saw the man trying to manhandle me, no one came to the rescue. A nearby jogger saw my plight and though I asked him to inform the police, he pretended as if he did not listen what I said."
After getting away from the culprit, the young woman brought this incident to the notice of Khar police, who were patrolling the area. When her brother and the police reached the spot, the man had escaped from there.
The young lady duly registered a complaint in the Khar police station. The lady really appreciated the cops as they comforted her and supported her as she was in bit of shock due to the incident.
According to the details shared by Senior inspector Daya Nayak of Khar police station the accused was traced within 30 minutes of registering the complaint as police teams were deployed in the area of the incident. The accused is identified as Mohammed Naushad Ahmed, who was totally inebriated when he was caught.
