Panaji, Jul 2: With several jobs having requirement for night shifts and women workers clocking in to operate during the graveyard hour, face opposition from Trade Unions in Goa. The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Goa, is not in favour of the women working shifts from 7 pm to 6 am.

The AITUC, is looking forward to place this matter in Parliament. The government’s acceptance and revising the Factories Act, 1948, to allow women in the manufacturing sector in the specific shift from 7 pm to 6 am is being strongly opposed by AITUC.

The secretary of AITUC, Goa, Christopher Fonseca said the matter is under review in the parliament. According to him, the central government is diluting labour laws to favour employers at the cost of workers. This is opposed to NDA’s move of converting 40 labour laws into four labour codes.
