Mangalore: Policemen get hold of Rashid Malbari's Associate Ismail
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 26: The personnel of the district criminal intelligence bureau (DCIB) arrested Ismail (27) from Kaup, an alleged associate of dreaded underworld criminal Rashid Malbari who is already in jail, from Chennai airport. They also confiscated from him a passport, Rs 3,000 in cash and a mobile phone.

Ismail had succeeded in giving the policemen a slip when they arrested Rashid Malbari, an accomplice of notorious underground criminal Chota Shakeel, from Chembarikka near Kasargod in March last. The policemen had alerted all the airports about this fact.

Ismail had provided shelter to Malbari after bringing him to the country from Dubai. Malbari lived in Kaup for some time. Ismail also owns a house in Chembarikka.

Ismail, in association with Malbari, had hatched a plan to abduct a Kaup-based industrialist, who is presently settled in Dubai, who had initially provided him employment there. The two had planned to demand a ransom of five crore rupees to release the industrialist. Allegedly, Malbari also had planned to kill several important leaders in India and had mustered weapons and manpower required to execute this plan. Ismail is facing charges of extending help to Malbari to execute these plans under the instructions of Chota Shakeel.

A team led by  DCIB inspector H N Venkatesh Prasanna operating under the directions and guidance of superintendent of police Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao and deputy inspector general of police Gopal Hosur, went to Kumbhakonam in Tamilnad after gathering information that Ismail was present there. However, Ismail got alerted and planned to fly to Riyadh. But the policemen reached Chennai airport in time on May 24 and nabbed him.

Ismail, who used to work for the above-said businessman from Kaup initially, had later opted out, after developing some differences of opinion with him. He later started operating for Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Shakeel. He had once tried to abduct a 12-year old son of the said industrialist and in the process, the legs of the boy were damaged as the wheels of the car moved over his feet. His plan failed as a result. Later, he planned to abduct the industrialist in Kaup itself but before his plans could materialize, Malbari was arrested.

Ismail is expected to be produced in the court today or tomorrow. The list of persons yet to be arrested in the case includes Chota Shakil and Fahim Much Much from Mumbai. Fahim is facing several cases in Mumbai too, and as per the available information, both of them are living abroad.

It is very sad note our youngsters become criminals. Good education will be the only solution. Whoever it may be from any community for bad things, should be punished, it''s my suggestion. I pray to Allah to forgive his misdeeds commited by himself.

We are believing what we are shown by the police or others inlcuding media. We never saw the background.Sometimes, the case might be far remote from the truth. Still we are giving judgment as if we are provided with all authentic evidences to treat a accused as guilty of a criminal action. I read that a person cannot be considered as criminal unless his criminal act is proved. It doesn''t mean that i am defending or supporting any gangster or criminal. But,truth remains always truth, even though it can be twisted to prove someone guilty or not guilty. If he is really guilty of his crime, he should be punished. But, we are not the Judges or Courts to straightaway declaring him as the criminal. We believe in a strong administration of Indian justice system. Let it take its own course. VINAY K. Muscat-Oman

Mr Khatib, what is it that you dont believe. Others, it was so funny watching this criminal in TV9 y''day. He was not standing straight & police asked him to stand properly in police station. He started laughing as if school teacher asked him to stand on bench. This reminds of Kasab who laughs at judge in Mumbai. The terrorists should be shot after getting information from them.

A very commendable action by the cops. We should hang such people instead of having them languishing in jail. All gangsters should be treated like terrorists and be liquidated. We should try to get the help of Interpol or the FBI(USA) to get hold of the big fly.
