Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 8: A group of people, misconstruing that a pick up van which they saw passing through Kulshekar Chowki was illegally trafficking cows, intercepted it and assaulted those inside. The 407 tempo in question however was loaded with mangoes. In the attack, a person was injured.

The injured, identified as Ummer Farooq (35), was admitted into a private hospital here for treatment.

At 4 am on Sunday, Ummer Farooq, Ashfaq and Latif were transporting mango boxes from Ulaibettu to the city market. Three miscreants wrongly suspected the tempo to be loaded with cows and that they were headed for the slaughterhouse. They chased the tempo and stopped the vehicle although the people in the tempo told them that the vehicle was loaded with mangoes. During this melee, the driver and another person, stopped the vehicle near Kulshekar Chowki and ran away. Farooq, who was left alone with the tempo, was beaten up by the gang. The assaulters have been accused of robbing Rs 70,000 from the vehicle.

After the attack, the gang took the tempo from Kulshekar Chowki and left it near Kulshekhar church. A mobile phone belonging to the mango transporters was found in the tempo. The attackers remain unidentified so far. Their facial features have been captured in CCTV camera and the police are hunting for them.

As soon as the news of the attack spread, people came together near Kulshekar Chowki. But the police instructed them to disperse.

A case in this connection was registered in the town police station at Kankanady. Investigation is progressing.

Now lynching in the name of mango, the sacred fruit of India.

If the police are really interested in caching these criminals, they can do so in a day. An a judge can sentence them within a week. I'm all for the severest punishment -an example needs to be made - drown them in a barrel full of mango pulp.

Why did the attackers leave the temp near a church ??? Why did they flee ? Souldn't they have taken the tempo to a police station and admitted the confusion ? Why steal the money ?

Catch them with the help of CCTV images and find out their roots. Investigate how many more attacks like this they have pre-planned and executed.

Where did they take the stolen money and handed over to who ? Their leader should be found out and not 7K but they must be made to pay 7 lakhs so that all injuries caused in the past must be compensated.

Please increase surveillance. All criminal activities like this should be detected and culprits punished.

"Three miscreants wrongly suspected the tempo to be loaded with cows ...."
Jungle law ruling in our country by Bajrang daals & Rightwing activist groups there by taking the law in their hands. This gross violation of the stipulated rules & regulations. Such goons must be punished minimum 6 month in jail and hefty penalties without bail. They are going to the extremism.

It is very clear from their modes operandi that their main motive was to attack and rob without verifying what is inside the vehicle. Such thugs have to be taught a lesson otherwise it will create tension among people as they will repeat again to rob and settle scores if they hate some.
