Panaji, Jul 9: Constitutional bench of the Supreme Court has ordered reservation of jobs for SC, ST and OBC to applied to posts rather than vacancies. This decision was taken after it was observed that the job reservation for SC, ST and OBC is not being properly implemented.
The Goa commission for ST and SC, recommended that government undertake the responsibility to set this right. The chairman of the commission, Prakash Velip also urged for constructing a tribal museum to preserve Goa’s rich cultural heritage.
Further, a demand for hostel facilities for ST and SC students in professional colleges was made. The hostel facilities are to be provided in main cities, such as Panaji, Margao and Ponda for both boys and girls. The commission also voiced immediate action on the cases of violence against the minorities.
The power given to the state information commission to implement the Right to Information Act 2005, the mission for ST and SC must be given an option to impose fines on a public servant on the grounds of negligence in implementing instruction of the government, which is concerned with shielding the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
