Sydney: MCAS conducts annual general meeting

Sydney, Jul 15: The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Sydney (MCAS) recently conducted their 13th annual general meeting as a result of this AGM, the following were as the office bearers:

President: Stanley D’Cruz
Vice President/Treasurer: Savio Monis
General Secretary: Joylene Moras
Social Secretary: Rowena Sequeira
Committee members: Michael Fernandis, Nelson Lobo, Anil Pinto, Neha D’Souza, Nelson D’Souza and Niliya D’Souza

Stanley served as president earlier for seven years during the formative stages of MCAS.

The objective of MCAs is to preserve Mangalurean tradition, culture, folklore, folk music, to create a friendly spirit of understanding and co-operation between members of the community, to support Mangalorean charities and embrace all other activities to attain the MCAS objectives.

Stanley thanked the previous office bearers for their sincere work and informed that MCAS is in a very healthy state. They will continue the current events, and will plan new events with consulations from the community.

The events planned for the rest of the year are:

1. Bollywood Hungama; 20 July 2019: This event was meant to promote MCAS within the wider
Indian Australian community.
2. Nativity Feast; 15 September 2019:This event bonds Mangalurean catholics around the world, will strive to retain our tradition, culture and provide the ambience of a home far away from home.
3. Mango Cup; October 2019: This cricket tournament initiated by MCAS ten years ago to promote the youth within MCAS, Goan community, Anglo Indians and East Indians.
4. Christmas Event; December 2019
5. Youth Programs: TBA
