Bantwal: Centenary Building of Loretto School Inaugurated

Bantwal, Jun 1: Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore inaugurated the newly-built centenary building of Loretto Aided Higher Primary School, here on Monday June 1 morning.
Youth social activist Dolphy Prashant inaugurated the computer facility provided at the School.
Bishop Aloysius also presided over the stage programme held later at the School premises and also honoured all those who worked towards realizing the building works.
The Bishop, speaking at the occasion, said that the catholic education institutions have rendered yeomen services for the society in the field of educating the masses, regardless of caste, creed and religion across the diocese. Education is essential for prosperity and progress, he asserted.
Youth social activist Dolphy Prashant felt that Christian missionary’s humanitarian deeds in imparting education should be acknowledged by the society.
Diocesan CEB secretary Fr Wilson D’Souza, MLA U T Khader, Tulu litterateur Erya Laxminarayan Alva, taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Shetty, block education officer Sudhakar K, Amtady gram panchayat president Poornima, Loretto parish council vice president Joe Coelho, secretary Hubert Lobo and others were present at the dais.
MLA Ramanath Rai said that Christian education institutions have largely contributed for the progress of undivided Dakshina Kannada. The people have to support them in their endeavours, he urged.
MLA U T Khader said that Loretto School has made revolutionary changes in the education sphere in the rural area. It has significantly contributed for the social service and empowered the rural populace, he appreciated.
Erya Laxminarayan Alva said that Christian education institutions promoted brotherhood and harmony among the wide section of students in the society.
Diocesan Catholic Education Board (CEB) secretary Fr Wilson D’Souza said that students from all sections of the society, regardless of caste, creed and religion are studying in CEB-managed schools across Mangalore diocese. Meanwhile, the schools can excel if the parents of the students have due respect for their own school that can shape the future of students, in order to transform them into responsible citizens, he added.
Loretto School correspondent Fr Cyprian Pinto welcomed the gathering. School head teacher Sr Leena proposed vote of thanks. Teachers Leena Gonsalves and Irene Carlo compered the programme.
Free food was served to all at the occasion.
