Bengaluru, Jul 28: Fear of being caught by the police forced a young woman to jump off the fourth floor of an upscale pub on Residency Road in the city and end up with critical injuries. 

The city police have escalated their raids into pubs and other joints, which spring into action late in the night, in order to control the nightlife menace in the city. However, one such raid ended up in this tragedy. 

The 23-year-old woman is fighting for her life in one of the private hospitals of the city. Though the incident occurred on the night of Thursday, July 25, it came to light only on late Saturday. 

The police, according to sources, conducted raids on three upscale pubs and bars on the Residency Road and Brigade Road that falls under Ashoknagar police station limits. 

Scared by the presence of the police downstairs, the young woman, who was on the fourth floor of the pub, jumped from there. She ended up on the portico of the pub, injuring herself grievously in the process. It is said that she is in a critical condition in the ICU of a private hospital. 

The young generation has condemned the recent action of the police force of the city of treating the partygoers as criminals. In addition, the youngsters feel that this will seriously bring down the image of the silicon city which is known for peaceful nightlife.
