Mira Road Parish Priest Fr Rudolf D'Souza transferred to Canada

Mumbai, Jun 15: Fr Rudolf V D’Souza, parish priest, St Joseph’s Church, Mira Road in the city, has been transferred to Vancouver.

He will be the new regional superior and parish priest of Guardian Angel’s parish at downtown Vancouver.

Fr Rudolf V D'Souza served as the parish priest of St Joseph's church, Mira Road for eight and half years.  The parish has approximately 24,000 catholics and 5,954 families, and is the largest parish in Mumbai Archdiocese.

Fr Rudolf was instrumental in building the New Carmelite Spirituality Centre, “Anubhav” in Mira Road. It was inaugurated on December 7, 2004, by Pedro Lopez Quintana – The Pro-Nuncio of Vatican to India.

Born in Madantyar, Beltangady in the year 1960, Fr Rudolf joined the Carmelites in 1973.  He did his studies at St Philomena’s College, Mysore and later, his theological studies at Alwaye, Kerala and St Joseph's Seminary, Mangalore.  He did his MA from Karnataka University.

He was ordained priest in the year 1987.

He has a diploma in yoga. He has got many books to his credit.

He has a Licentiate Masters Degree from Pontifical University of Teresianum, Rome in theology and was the in-charge of the Theology Students (Formator) in the International College at Rome during the period 1991-94.

I loved to hear you and your broad smile tells us that you are person of spirituality and humanity. I have heard wonderful things you accomplished in Mira Road. People simply wait for your thoughprovoking sermons, your humour, your wisdom and your books have been a treasure to so many who wish to have clear understanding of God.     Fr. Rudolf, We have so much to thank you for the wonderful work you have done for the catholics (especially for the youth) in Mira Road. The people (both catholics and people of other religions also) will definitely miss you, especially the children will miss you as a friend, mingling and dancing with them... so now you have to change the lives of the people in canada by spreading the word of OUR LORD.
