India's first underwater railway project to be launched soon

Kolkata, Aug 9: Union Railways minister, Piyush Goyal announced that the first underwater train project in the city under the Hooghly River is almost complete.

In a tweet by Goyal, he expressed how the project would serve as a proud moment for Indians and with completion of the project the people of Kolkata will have ease of transport.

The project will also exemplify the brilliance of the engineers involved. The 16 km long project will connect Salt Sector-5 with Howrah Maidan. The phase-one of the project connecting Salt Lake Sector-5 to Salt Lake Stadium will soon be operational.

In order to safeguard the tunnel from the water of Hooghly River, four layers of protection are used on the tunnel.

    Under water railways good .But in DK to construct Highway ..To construct tunnel on mnaglore Bangalore shiradhi ghats ,to make 5 lane our Nalini Kateel, Highway engineers ,Highway authorities are struggling .
    Give the contract to same engineers & construction company

    first of all we need take care about above ground train very well then we need to move to under water..
    we have lot of issue in india need to focus on that..

    When it is raining It will be underwater only...again why to build a new project and spend ???So better during rain trains get canceled so solve those problems..
