Srinagar, Aug 14: On Tuesday, netizens slammed Pakistan's former interior minister Rehman Malik for spreading propaganda on the current situation in Kashmir. Malik uploaded a video on his official twitter account which showed lot of chaos and several people severely wounded. The video is captioned 'Indian Army have used Gunship helicopters to attack villages in IOK #Kashmir With complete blackout, brave Kashmiris r managing to send the videos. This attack left dozens of men, women & children killed.where is the mediation of President @realDonaldTrump & action by @UN” – Senator Rehman Malik.

Malik did not stop there. He put out another tweet which said, 'I request all on twitter to please retweet with your comments to expose Indian genocide in Kashmir-India got to stop this Genocide'. In response to his tweet, senior journalists from India slammed Malik on Twitter, calling the video 'fake' and thrashed him for spreading 'propaganda'.

To discard Malik’s tweet and establish it as fake, netizens posted a video which portrayed the actual situation where a cultural programme in Srinagar was underway. A second video was uploaded by a journalist to expose Malik’s propaganda, the video showed Kashmiri locals playing cricket with CRPF jawans.

Malik is well-known to pull such acts. Back in 2012, he had equated Babri Masjid demolition with Mumbai terror attacks which exasperated the Indian government. As of now, officials have asserted that most of the restrictions are removed in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the principal secretary Rohit Kansal, Jammu region was ‘almost entirely’ free of restrictions. “Restrictions however, do continue in parts of Kashmir," he said.

Kansal also stated that fake handles and anything that causes hostility will be sternly dealt with legally and procedurally. When asked about hoisting the tricolour on August 15, at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Kansal claimed that the celebrations will be done with respect and grandeur.
