Panaji, Aug 19: After facing wrath of incessant rains, the residents of the state are now looking at a drought-like situation. Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate's office had a field day with uninterrupted calls from people desperate for water.
Looking at the frantic outburst of the residents, Monserrate called PWD for tanker water. Panaji corporator Soraya Pinto Makhika and former deputy mayor Kabir Pinto Makhij managed to secure a tanker around 2 am, past midnight. The residents were informed of the same, who although late, showed up with their buckets to fill.
According to mayor Kabir, the rise in demand for water has made private tankers switch off their phones. Corporator Pundalik Naik admired the resilience of the people who showed patience during the longest water crisis in the state.
