Mangalore, Jun 23:
In an incident that occurred at Padavu-mitt near Kulshekar here, two labourers died while working in a drainage pit on Tuesday June 23 evening. The reason for the death is suspected to be electric shock.

The deceased have been identified as Stany Menezes (45) and Bhoja (43), residents of Carmica Colony and Megina Mane near Padavu-mitt near here. The duo were working in a drainage pit of a rented cottage called Nirmal Naveen Cottage owned by Ligoury D'Souza. They began work in the afternoon and after few hours of work, the residents of the cottage heard their plea for help. However, when the residents came to the spot, the duo were found dead.

The residents suspect that electric shock through the faulty earth connection of the electric line connecting the house coming in touch with the drain water may have been the cause behind the death.

Fire brigade personnel, who arrived at the spot retrieved the bodies of labourers. Later the bodies were shifted to District Wenlock Hospital in the City.

Police too visited the spot.

I think this incident is result of mere negligence on part of owners as well as KEB official.Whenever electricty connection is made it shouLd be thoroghly checked/inspected and then be connected by KEB.Well this would not be supported/encouraged by people , but definitely it would avoid such accidents.
