Mangaluru Sep 1: The hill situated near Nanthoor Circle on the way to Pumpwell poses danger as it may collapse anytime along with the huge tree on it.

Two weeks back a huge tree had fallen from the hill on a school bus during heavy rains. A hill had collapsed suddenly near Circuit House which had affected the traffic for a quite long.

Now the hill at Nanthoor is posing danger and is on the verge of collapsing. There is a chance of another tree getting uprooted which may fall on passing vehicles.

MCC should act immediately before any such incident takes place.

If, at all, a big deluge occurs like in Kolhapur/Satara/Kodagu/Kerala, Mangalore city will have to pay a heavy price as such type of vertical cut outs w/o commensurate strong retainer walls can be seen in many places and buildings built very proximal to the adjacent site!

A KODAGU/KEARALA TYPE DISASTER IS WAITING TO HAPPEN AS THE CLIMATIC CHANGE WORSENS WITH RISE IN GLOBAL WARMING!!

I think our MCC is in slumber modus. It is they have to look into such thing first.Best is bring up a wall with bricks or red stones immediately at the sides ,so that no mud or tree might slideaway and fall on roads.give way to drainage water so that roads remain clean and dont disturb the vehicles.but we know the proceeder of MCC:see who is doing this cheaper .(need not secure)by the time they think over hill will find its way to the road.

PWD engineers stand up you deserve a whipping. When you cut a hill for building road go at an angle (grade). Second option is cut a bed (not the sleeping kind).

Land of engineering colleges and we are showing the world how bad is our MCC. Take the guidance from the professors of these colleges and set it right.

God alone alone know when we can say its smart city.

MCC is not doing its job for which it has been appointed.
Most shameful thing on earth is getting paid for doing nothing.
    Shame on MCC!

Yes... Exactly... Pedestrians can change the side and walk... But what about the vehicles which come from pump well? I am really worried about them... Some are totally unaware... Some come by that route rarely... Anyways may god protect them from all dangers like in the past... It's really scary ..huge stone is also hanging there...May god save the people passing by in the vehicles... Good showers too are there during the day and night ....

    Yes Cynthia mam..
Even I pass by this road in the evening while returning from work.
My family waits for me to reach home safe. It's same with every human on this earth.
But in india, for political parties we are just votes.
They are just here to divide us and make us fight.
MCC should appoint some humans to work for general public.

May god protect you all ...🙏..you can skip that route.. From pumpwel you can take diversion while going... Coming time there's no risk .. If authorities are irresponsible....then we should take care of ourselves by using alternate measures...after all if anything happens (god forbid)

Any cliff next to a road should have a gradient of no more than 45 degrees. At such a gradient, we have much less of a chance of a landslide.

But the cliffs around Nantoor/Kadri have always been nearly vertical! If greater damage has not happened, it is just a miracle.

Regardless, the roots of certain shrubs can prevent landslides to a certain extent.

But I have never seen anyone planting such shrubs on the (non-vertical) surface of the cliffs in Mangaluru.
