Bengaluru: EC makes online provision for uploading colour photo on voter IDs

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Sep 2: If your voter ID is carrying the black and white photo of yours, which is 15 or 20 years old, then the same can be changed by yourself. The latest colour photo can be uploaded through online and new voter id can be obtained.

Citizens can opt for colourful voter ID like Aadhar card. The Election Commission (EC) has made online provision for the same.

In order to upload the colour photo, an individual has to first visit the National Voters' Portal Service on www.nvps.in and register him or herself by providing either the mobile number or voter ID number or email id. A new password will be given to the individual during the registration process.

Once the individual logs in using the new password, the options of fresh enrolment, migration, individual information correction and deletion of voter ID will be available. Out of these, if the individual information correction option is opened, there will be two options for self and family. Right now, this option is available only in English and Hindi languages. Here the option of voter ID number, state, district and name of the legislative assembly constituency get opened. Once the details are filled in these requirements, an individual can write their name in English or any regional language. Once this is done, the registration part number and registration serial number that is given in the voter's slip during the elections, needs to be entered. Then the options of name, address, year, date of birth, sex and photo are opened.

The required option needs to be clicked by the individual and all the details need to be uploaded and also the colour photograph. There is a preview option also to see the colour photograph that is uploaded. Once the submit button is clicked, then there is no provision for further amendment of the voter id. Then the EC will send the individual the new colour photo ID.

There is one more good facility in this provision. It is possible to include names of all the voters of the same family into one polling booth. This amendment can also be done on online so that all the voters of the same family can come under the limits of same polling booth.

Perhaps India is the only country in the universe the citizen's of India need to make Aadhar card, Voter ID, Passport, Ration Card, Pan Card, Drivers license and so on.

The government has made a mockery of the system. In Assam alone, the majority of the 19 lakh genuine Indians who born in India has no money for the legal assistance simply made refugee in their own nation. Interestingly the final list includes the relative of the first President Fakruddin and serving BSF officer, civil servants, government officials, Kargil war veterans and so on. They are kept in detention center just like 'Nazi' concentration camp declaring them 'D-voters(doubtbul) instead of D-Citizens.
In any state, it is the responsibility of the state to provide the identity of the citizen. Only in India citizen need to prove his nationality.
I have no idea the imagine the pain of citizen's who have lost identities in natural calamities and man-made disaster like communal riots.
Ironically, no one government agency or the central ministry knew which document is the most legal acceptance for all government works and highest value.

The PM Modi's central government is talking about 'Digital India'. But Election Commission is still in the times of Harishchandra first black and white movie of India.
