Mangalore, Jul 10:  A special team formed by the superintendent of police on Friday July 10, nabbed four of the accused in the murder of Vamanjoor Rohi alias Rohidas Shetty that took place recently.

Sampath Bhandary (30), resident of Urundady gudde near Panjimogaru, Dhanaraj (26), resident of Kalbavinagara near Kottara,  Santhosh Kottary (23) and Krishnappa Salian (59), residents of Jyothinagar near Vamanjoor, are the arrested.

Superintendent of police (SP) Dr A S Rao told presspersons that the team made the arrests based on the clues provided by Bhandary.

“Vishwanath Koraga Shetty is the prime accused in this case, but he is settled abroad”, said Dr Rao, adding that Nikhil Shetty, Bhasker, and Murughan are some of the others who are yet to be arrested in this case.

“The victim was wanted in 19 cases including two murders. A rival gang planned to murder him six months ago and Rs 1 lac and a pistol were provided to the accused”, said the SP.

“Rohi was given sleeping pills in his dinner at the house where he was staying. The house owner Krishnappa Salian and a lady helped the murderers in executing their plan by providing information and unlocking the door of the house”, he added.

On Sunday July 5, the murder was executed. Rohi’s body had several stab wounds and he later died in a private hospital.

Four sharp weapons, a pistol, a Maruthi car, a bike, and three mobile phones were seized from the accused. Inspector general of police (western range) Gopal Hosur awarded Rs 20,000 to the police team headed by inspector B R Lingappa and sub-inspector Prakash, for this operation.

Additional superintendent of police R Ramesh was also present at the press meet.

Congrats Mangalore Police. definitely they should have been rewarded more than Rs 20,000 each. It''s very important that the culprits are booked.I feel sorry for the 23 year old SANTHOSH KOTTARY.IS YOUR LIFE WORTH Rs 1 LAKH ? Very sad for his parents to go through all the pain to bring him up and give education and he is BREAKING HIS FUTURE FOR 1 LAKH. wake up young generation. Don''t bargain your BRIGHT FUTURE for easy money which will bring TROUBLE LATER. PARENTS EDUCATE YOUR KIDS.

Dear Prem, I feel its not right to comment on the parents for what thier children do. Firstly because parents are not aware what thier kids do once they leave home, you can take for example students going to college or people on work. Parents belive and trust that thier kids are going to college or work....... but if they involve themselves in such activity please tell me how will the parents come to know about it? kids are indirectly stabbing thier parents belief too...... Once they come to know its very late to be handled. Its easy to comment but just put yourself in those parents place n think how you would felt? I''m sure if any parent knew that thier kids r on the wrong track obviously any parent will not be seated with thier hands tied up, they will do thier best to get thier loved ones out of such criminal acts or also in getting involved, or even to keep distance from such people. So please do not blame the parents.

This time, these faces are covered, I don’t understand the logic behind covering and not covering the faces of culprits. Is there any specific reason Why police not bothering to cover the faces of minorities. It is easy to see that even police play communal card.

Good Job Guys but why do you cover their faces? Is it in the Law that you have to cover their faces? As someone has written let them be public faces ,let the public know them. After all they will get bail and move freely in a couple of weeks or months and continue their trail. The youngest seem to be 23 of age.Is he making his parents Proud?

i would like to have healthy comments on this forum. but not the one like chris. police have their own mechanisms. if they cover the accussed its their prerogative. it has become a habit to critizse police whatever they have done good or bad.

Why to cover Face. Show them public so public will keep a watch whether they are inside the Bar or freely roaming in Mangalore. If they are fair and helped the society to eradicate Goondas then free them to do the right job which our Public Servant fails to do.

One of the Accused T-Shirt Says "I don''t worry about Terrorism, I am married.". What do you call this. Look at the accused Physically Fit with Strong Arms. These people are taken good care to conduct such activities. Feel upset that these youngsters who are the future of this country are involved in such criminal activities.
