Mangalore, Jul 21: The legend, who gave the Konkani world, a record number of Mangalorean music albums since the last 50 years, is now set to give all his 40 albums in one pouch to mark his 50th year of Konkani music. This is indeed an exciting news for his fans all over the world, most of whom had nursed an ambition to collect all of his 40 albums, but failed to do so, due to various reasons.
His fans the world over, are aware that United Youngsters in Mangalore would be organizing ‘Wilfy's Special Sentimental Music Nite’ on Aug 2, 2009 in spacious and comfortable T M A Pai Auditorium here.
'The Immortal Collection of Wilfy Rebimbus' will be symbolically launched on the special day. But, this musical treasure will be available to the subscribers only by October 2009.
Vishwas Rebimbus, son of legendary singer Wilfy Rebimbus, while speaking to daijiworld, shared his dad's desire to 'give back something to the society, which gave a lot of things to him'.
"This is not a commercial project, but we will charge the actual expenses that may be incurred to produce these 40 albums in a single pouch, but we will in advance, take orders from the music lovers and only limited copies will be produced. Unlike other albums of his, they will not be available in the market in advance. Every copy will be produced after the orders are received, and within specific period only", he explained.
"Some of the initial albums are still in the Cassette format, which were earlier recorded on an analog system. These cassettes will now be upgraded and digitally mastered to get a better quality in the CD format.. We have a huge demand for Dad's albums from all over the world, but sometimes, we were compelled to regret our inability to meet the demand, due to the non- availability of albums in the CD format", Vishwas added. "This is the perfect time to give back our well-wishers, as this year, my Dad is celebrating Golden year of his life in Konkani music", says Vishwas, along with wife Charleen, who are busy in the production work of Vol 1 to 40 albums.
However, 'Rebimbus Creations', which is the producer of these albums, is still not prepared to take orders. Within the next few days, procedure for placing the order and the actual price of the albums, will be announced in daijiworld. Ordered quantities will be sent by courier, even to fans living abroad, he revealed.
Meanwhile, stage is set for Wilfy's Sentimental Nite on Aug 2, 2009. Main coordinator of the event, Leslie Rego, informed daijiworld that there is a possibility of a total sell out, much before the event . "A large number of Wilfy's fans from abroad have already reserved the tickets for the show, and it is overwhelming to see the enthusiastic response from all the Gulf countries. Wilfy's well wishers have shown tremendous support for the show. As usual, back home in Mangalore, people have responded very well, despite this being rainy season. Altogether, the show is going to be memorable and it will create a history," said a confident Leslie Rego.
