Mangalore: Kingfisher 'Turning Back' Incident - Two Suspended

Mangalore:  Turning Back of Aircraft at Take Off Stage -  Two suspended
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 29: In connection with the requisitioning of a Mumbai-bound Kingfisher aircraft that was about to take off on Sunday July 26 night,  for picking up a passenger it had left behind at the local airport, two employees who were on duty at the time of the incident, have been suspended by the local station manager of Kingfisher Airlines.

A staff manning the boarding gate and a ramp staff were suspended for dereliction of duty.

It may be recalled that Rishi Mehta, local head of Kingfisher Airlines, had asked the aircraft pilot to abort take off and come back to the tarmac to pick up a lady passenger, who had been left out at the lounge, even though her baggages had been loaded on to the said aircraft.

In the meantime, the officials of the department of civil aviation who arrived here to investigate the incident, are continuing with their work.

After reading this news i feel it is totally punishable mistake. What this lady Mrs. Alva is doing in the lounge ? She is not aware of flight time and she has to board the flight? Mistake can happen from everybody. but this is aviation industry. a small mistake can cause lot of problems. In mangalore, mumbai airports groound staff are totally checking our boarding pass with their list then only they will allow us to board the flight. This is some mistake (it is a very big mistake) happened by the ground staff while ticking the list or so. Dont blame everybody in Mangalore Airport. This is our convenient Airport so we all should co-operate and give suggestion to improvement. Please dont blame all the staffs and workers and co-operate.

Whether Mrs. Kripa Amar Alva is a VIP or not is not the question here. This is a complete lax of security on the part of the airline. Once the boarding pass is issued there is no way that a flight can leave without a passenger. On the contrary I remember off loading the luggage of a certain passenger who did not report for boarding after the issuance of the boarding pass in Mumbai. Please do not blame Mrs. Alva.

I do not know who she is though I have read her name a lot of times in the Udayavani newspaper with respect to some news about Lions clubs or Rotary club but I am absolutely sure that she is not be blamed in this incident at all.

They are right Mr. Benedict, two years ago, when I was coming back to mangalore from Dubai, I had only 42 grams of gold. For that the Customs people in Mangalore Airport asked me to pay Rs. 3,500/- for excess Gold. Is it correct? Later They took Rs. 750/- without any receipt ant let me go. Is this good management? All are involved!!

The incident does call for an enquiry and the guilty should be appropriately punished. But to hush up the incident, they should not catch hold of ground staff and make them  scape goats! I am confused with Wilfred and Shukur''s comment. I have landed in Mangalore Airport so many times but never felt harassed. In fact the service is far superior to major airports of India. If you are smuggling stuff in, I am sure you will call the investigation harassment. If you are a proud Indian, abide by the rules and I am sure you will feel Welcomed too!

Who is this VIP lady. In my opinion VIPs are children and elders(who cannot walk). Flights are not like local buses. They have certain time set to fly. If this VIP doesn''t know that, it is sad unless this person is disabled. Noone is to be blamed except this passenger. Everyone should be treated equally. If someone delayed due to a genuine acceptable reason , it could be considered. But someone already checked in and failed to report at boarding point is not good reason to delay so many other passengers.

Let the Dept. of Civil Aviation investigate whether Smt.Kripa Amar Alva is eligible for the VIP quota and VIP treatment at the first instant. Ofcourse it is the duty of the ground staff to check all the passengers have boarded the aircraft or not @ the boarding gate.

They can very well make out if any passenger is not boarded aircraft from the check list. I really feel sorry ultimately only the ground staff of Kingfisher Airlines is punished by the authroity. What about the local head of the Kingfisher Airlnes?

Who is that lady passenger I guess she is VVIP. Dear Roland we do not expect Sheikh like treatment in India, let them atleast treat us like human beings. It is sad that with money one can buy anything and everything.

I don't understand why the ground staff alone are punished? why is Rishi Mehta free from all this. Is it just because he is in the higher management level? Sadly this is India where only power and money rule....

As per Aviation rules you cannot take off with passenger's bag and leaving behind the passenger. It is a safety measure. Even if the lady was not travelling they have to offload the bag. Airline staff's negligence costs every one.

If you do not have influence, power, political background then you get the nastiest, worst and most horrible airport services here in Mangalore by the Airport staff..... The most affected are ladies………….. They don’t respect or give extra care to ladies… I get to see this every time when I am travel to and fro this airport.

This is the reason why the most of the passengers from gulf countries avoid Mangalore airport. Gound aiport staff particularly harass people from a particular community. If thsi continues none will visit Karnataka.

Gents, mistakes happen, and no man is perfect. In this case the concerned need to be punished, but we also need to verify the reports whether it was dereliction of duty or ?  I hope the KF staff are not made scapegoats and an impartial enquiry be conducted. I do not agree on Wilfred''s remarks quote "They are treating us as criminals when we go back to India" unquote - Wilfred do you expect to be treated as a Sheikh when you arrive in Mlore?
