KPL Cricket — Moidin Bava Gets Mangalore Team for Rs 4.23 crore

Bangalore, Aug 6: The auction for the Karnataka Premier League cricket tournament saw eight teams of the state fetching prices in crores, with the Mangalore team going to Fiza Developers owned by Moideen Bava.
Bava is president of the Dakshina Kannada Minority Committee of the Congress party. He was the party’s candidate from Mangalore North for the legislative assembly (MLA) elections held in 2008.
The auction held on Wednesday August 5 was at KSCA Hall where bidders for the teams gathered.
The Mangalore team sold for Rs 4.23 crore while the Bangalore city team went to Brigade Company for Rs 7.2 crore.
The Mysore team was bought by Kupendra Reddy Series Auto Company for Rs 3.25 crore and the Hubli-Dharwad team went to Shamanoor Shiva Shankarappa and Jagannnath for Rs 3.77 crore.
The Shimoga team went to Jayaprakash Hedge for Rs 1.75 crore whereas Bangalore rural team went to Melmart Company for Rs 5.55 crore.
The Gulbarga team was secured by Vivid Creations for 3.56 crore and Belgaum team by Subash Publishers and Sangeeth Electronics Company for Rs 3.81 crore.
The auction of the Raichur and Bellary teams was cancelled by the Karnataka State Cricket Academy.
Film star-turned-politician Ambarish and Mutthappa Rai, leader of ‘Jaya Karnataka’, also participated in the auction but failed in the bidding.
The teams, by participating in the auction, have indicated that they have been amply inspired by the Indian Premier League!
