New Delhi, Oct 24: Though a majority of pollsters declared a landslide victory to BJP in Maharashtra and Haryana in their exit-polls, a weak Congress and other opposition has given a strong response to ruling BJP in both the states.
In Maharashtra, it is almost clear that ruling BJP-Shiv Sena is all set to return to power, but not with an expected two-third majority. Out of 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, the trend so far shows that the BJP-Sena alliance is leading in 166 seats, and Congress and NCP is leading in about 100 seats.
But Haryana assembly is all set for photo-finish. Out of 90 seats, the BJP is leading in 38 constituencies and Congress in 31. In a major surprise, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) led by young Dushyant Singh Chautala is leading in 12 seats. He could be the kingmaker in the formation of the next government. Both Congress and BJP have reportedly approached JJP leader to form the next government.
