Mangaluru, Nov 11: Four persons were injured and hospitalized after a driver lost control over his car near Navabharat Circle in the city at around 4.20 pm on Monday November 11. One of the injured was a pedestrian.
The circle is usually busy with vehicles and people. The car which came at considerable speed, began to move erratically, and gave jitters to the people present. Luckily, no death or critical injuries resulted from the incident. The CCTV footage of the incident has become viral in social websites.
The injured happen to be Akram Pasha (28) from Hassan, Anil (18) from Uttar Pradesh, Aravind (21) from Hebri and Dayanand Shetty (45), resident of Kambalabettu, Bantwal.
Aravind was driving the car when it began to move wayward and hit a pedestrian, Akram Pasha, near the petrol bunk in the circle. The car then hit Anil, who runs a roadside Panipuri stall before hitting a car belonging to Dayanand Shetty that had been stopped there. The car also hit the compound wall of the petrol bunk and damaged it. Dayanand Shetty, who was sitting inside the parked car, was injured.
The nature of injuries suffered by Anil and Akram Pasha are of serious nature. Both the cars suffered damages. If the car had entered the petrol bunk straight, the consequences would have been catastrophic.
It is said that Aravind, who was driving the car, suffered from epileptic seizure at that time, which caused the accident. Medical tests are yet to be conducted to confirm this information.
The car Aravind was driving also had its owner, his brother and two girls inside, but none of them were injured. The family had come to the city to buy clothes from Hebri. A case in this connection was registered by the traffic (west) police personnel.

Wed, Nov 13 2019I was the one who was in the car along with my father, uncle and my sister. We didn't have any idea that the driver had such disease. If we would know we would surely not call him.

Tue, Nov 12 2019Epileptic people should not drive , hope RTO is listening and will ensure that license is withdrawn for lifetime. RTO application form should have a questionaire on similar conditions to avoid giving license to such people and to protect life of me innocent people on road.

Mon, Nov 11 2019It is clearly pedestrian fault. In india unfortunately pedestrians can walk even on the road while cars dont have way... yes the car could have reduced the speed but clearly the pedestrian is walking on the road...

Mon, Nov 11 2019After watching the video I feel it is the pedestrian's mistake.
He was walking carelessly in the middle of the road, inside the roundabout. It will be difficult for any driver, especially if he is driving fast to avoid this accident when someone comes suddenly in front of the car in the middle of roundabout.
I doubt if that guy was having any suicidal intentions.

Tue, Nov 12 2019Yes. Now I read the details of the accident. It is due to the epileptic seizure which the driver had. People who have epilepsy and not controlled with medicines must not be allowed to drive.

Wed, Nov 13 2019Ahmed mangalore, people with epilepsy with or without medicine should not drive at all .It is a danger to him self and public too.It is not controlable during driving and his motoric reaction is less in a epilapsy person .with medicine it is still depressed. He can get a attack at any time without warning during driving due to trying to concentration. It gives his brain more strain.Thank God big catastroph was not there except minor injuries.
