Udupi, Aug 21: In an indecent incident that occurred at a school in Muloor village near Kaup in the district on Wednesday August 19, a male teacher tried to assault his female colleague for frivolous reasons, in the presence of the school students.

Reportedly, Shivakumara Swamy, who teaches Hindi in Muloor government fisheries high school, tried to assault his colleague, Lobo Mathias.  Mathias, shocked by the incident, complained to the headmistress, who forwarded the complaint to the Block Education Officer (BEO).

The students, who were angered by the incident, boycotted the classes, demanding for the immediate transfer of Shivakumara Swamy. The local people too extended their support to the demand of the students, and sought stringent action against the erring teacher. Block education officer D Manjunathaiah rushed to the spot, issued a warning to Shivakumara Swamy and got a bond of good conduct executed from him. In the meantime, the offending teacher has been temporarily transferred to Yermal high school.
