Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Nov 21: The police here have succeeded in arresting a person who has been charged with stealing a handbag belonging to a woman from inside a temple. The bag contained cell phones and cash.

The arrested person happens to be Umesh Poojary (38), resident of Daregudde here. The police have recovered four mobile phones worth about Rs 37,000 from him.

It is said that Poojary has been loitering about without a regular job since sometime. A woman from Kotebagilu here had visited Lord Hanumantha temple here located in the market area a few days back. She had kept her handbag aside when offering prayers to the deity. The accused, who reportedly saw the bag, smelt an opportunity and took the bag away by placing it inside his own bag.

The woman who returned to the spot found that her bag had been stolen. Her bag had two mobile phones and cash. She filed complaint in Moodbidri police station. A team led by police inspector, Dinesh Kumar, took up probe and checked CCTV footage inside the temple. The theft was recorded therein. The police, who could identify the man, arrested him from near Aramane Bagilu, and confiscated four mobile phones from him. He reportedly confessed of his crime and that said he had already spent the money he found from the bag.

A case stands registered against the accused in the town police station here. He was produced in the court whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.

People dont have even respect of a prayer place. One prays and other steals them.Does they not shame no fear ?

It is not the unemployment that people steal,no it is simply easier to get money without much sweating.Old habits of Indians ,mind is not yet developed. Not educated. There is lack of labourers in mangalore too like him.can earn more than 500 as .rupees with meals whereas stealing brings three times without working.Put him in jail till he pays her money.dont let simply so.

    Unemployment is the main reason.
People need jobs to sustain life and lot's of needs of the fly.
When the situation goes bad to worse with out guaranteed/regular income these
guys look into some easy means of income by stealing, cheating and out of the way activities.
In the mean time we must remember that there some habitual thieves too. (Cattle snatchers )

now a days people want to become rich without any hard work. best example is cow theft case, in a single day they will earn in lakhs. influenced by these kind of incidents even hard earning people also think about illegal activities & finally caught by the police. but most dangerous thing is some people supporting this kind of illegal activity which will encourage these criminals. so there is no meaning in blaming govt or demonetization or unemployment.

it is fine as his name does not sound like that of a peacelover.

Probably he must have prayed with the same God to help him in stealing as he must have lost his job due to demonetization and GST issues of brainless chaiwala.

Simple lessons to be learned are
    1. God will not look after your belongings while you pray.
    2. If you lose your belongings, it will be police who will fetch your things for you.

Unemployment is real culprit here ! govt should provide the employment people instead they wants to sell the public sector companies to the FOREIGN COMPANIES where we fought against them and get the freedom from them FOR EXAMPLE east INDIA company from BRITAIN but we are running towards to the same people country and begging for the hiding place !! we get all the black money and investing in FOREIGN COUNTRIES and giving lectures to the GENERAL PUBLIC for the votes !!
