Bengaluru, Nov 21: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given clean chit to former minister, K J George, and senior IPS officers, Pranav Mohanty and A M Prasad, in a case relating to the death of the then deputy superintendent of police (DySP), M K Ganapathi. 

After Ganapathi ended his life, the minister had to leave the cabinet and there was outcry from the general public and the family members of Ganapathi based on the allegations of harassment made by Ganapathi against the trio hours before the police officer hanged himself in a lodge at Madikeri.

CBI is learnt to have filed 'B' report in Madikeri court in this respect. It has upheld the finding of the doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences at New Delhi that Ganapathi's death was caused by asphyxiation. It has come to the conclusion that Ganapathi had committed suicide and it was not murder. 

The CBI has also stated that it could not find any evidence to prove the allegations that the minister and IPS officers had harassed Ganapathi. It has concluded that Ganapathi did not face any pressure or harassment in his professional life and that there are chances of him deciding to end life on account of family problems. CBI noted that Ganapathi had made accusations before his death against a few people based on some very old incidents, adding that it could not find anything that goes to prove these allegations. 

Sources said that the report also has noted that the court can exonerate the above accused and dismiss the cases registered against them.
