Udupi, Nov 22: Karnataka Lokayukta, Vishwanath Shetty, paid a surprise visit to the pre-metric boys’ hostel at Kunjibettu in city on Friday, November 22.

Vishwanath Shetty is on tour of Udupi district. In his visit to pre-metric boys’ hostel, he instructed the hostel warden to regularly inspect the food provided to students and the grocery supplied by the government. Lokayukta also checked the hostel rooms, kitchen and store room.

Some portion of the pre-metric boys’ hostel land is claimed by some locals as their property. Lokayukta Vishwanath Shetty instructed the District Commissioner (DC) Dr G Jagadeesha to examine the case and file a criminal case against the claimants, if the claim is found to be false. “This claim is also a hindrance to construct a new hostel building in this place. If the claim is genuine, it can be challenged in tribunal for private property but not for government property,” said Vishwanath Shetty.

Ramesh S N, deputy director from social Welfare department, Bharathi Padmashali, hostel warden, and others were present during the visit.
