Chennai, Dec 5 (IANS): The 220 MW nuclear power Unit-I at the Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), slated to restart on December 1, was still under shutdown, as per Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO).
Owned by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL), the MAPS has two 220 MW units.
The Unit-I was shut down on January 30, 2018 for maintenance works and was expected to restart power generation on December 1, 2019.
On the other hand, the second unit is generating power and on Wednesday it generated about 160 MW.
Officials at MAPS declined to comment, while officials at NPCIL, Mumbai were not available when contacted by IANS.
The two 1,000 MW units at Kundankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) also owned by NPCIL on Wednesday generated about 1,110 MW.
