Kundapur, Sep 12: Kundapur Forum for Communal Harmony recently organized a programme in the town in which, the western range inspector general of police, Gopal Hosur, met the organizers of the Forum. He had a free exchange of thoughts and ideas with the Forum members on the issue of achieving communal harmony.

Hosur, who participated in the informal function held at the R N Shetty Hall here, also interacted with the audience. He appealed to the people to extend full cooperation to the police department in maintaining law and order, especially during the fragile period of communal disharmony. "In such circumstances, the need of the hour is to forget all kinds of differences, and uphold the universal principal of compassion and tolerance," he advocated.

“'Sarva Dharma Samanvaya' is the sheet anchor of peace, progress and prosperity. To ensure this, the police department has been vigilant in keeping under check the anti-social activities of criminals, underworld activists, naxals and the recently formed group of self-styled moral policemen. The policemen have also been keeping an eye on the possibility of mentally deranged people engaging in desecrating religious places of worship," he stated.

Prof B M Hegde presided. Prakash chandra Shetty welcomed. S Janardhan and Damodhar Acharya delivered introductory addresses. Subrahmanian Padukone presented the programme.
