Mangaluru, Jan 6: Music composer and singer, popularly known ‘Sangeet Kuvor’, Norbert Pereira, is all set to present his musical nite at St Agnes Special School ground on Sunday, January 12 at 6.30 pm sharp.

The much awaited music extravaganza is being organized by Konkani world’s leading 30 th cultural event organizing team Alfred Bennis Creations, Mangaluru, owned by Alfred Bennis, Kelarai.

Most popular hits such as ‘Prathver Kalok Manddthana’, ‘Mira Mira’, ‘Dees Ami Ashelho’, ‘Tuje Sobith Dole’ and some new catchy numbers will be performed during the show. Music album 'Tuje Vene ' containing Norbert Pereira’s classic Konkani melodies will be released during the event.



Along with Norbert, Gulf Voice of Mangaluru (GVOM) title winner Robin Sequeira, NRI entrepreneur-cum-singer Joseph Mathais, Daijiworld TV’s ‘Mozo Thalo Gaithalo title winner’ Velita Lobo, young singining sensation Jaison Lobo, music composer and trainer Jude Fernandes, Shilpa Cutinha, Silvia Fernandes, Sasha D’Souza, and Disha Moras will render their melodious vocals for the compositions of Norbert Pereira.

Ace music director of Mangaluru Roshan D'Souza and his team will enthrall the audience.

This show will be compered by the well-known Master of Ceremony Arun Danthi, Pernal.

The evening will be a power-packed house of entertainment with variety of dance performances from the young and aspiring dancers of famous dance academy ‘Thunder Guys’, Bajpe.

In addition to this, the audience will also witness a dose of comedy from the ever popular comedy team including popular Konkani movie/serial actors ‘Memori’ who are sure to create laughter with their hilarious jokes.

About Norbert Pereira

‘Sangeet Kuvor’ Norbert Pereira has performed many shows in India and abroad and has released 6 Konkani music albums so far. He has a good taste for jazz along with rock too. It is all blended and balanced to cheer and enjoy all with folk and baila. Hence his songs have a distinct identity of coastal twang and Konkani culture. The lyrics are an intelligent mix of language penned and will sweep any age group off the feet, also the listener would take home foot-tapping melodies.

Norbert Pereira has carved a niche for himself in Konkani music world. Amidst the inflow of young blood into Konkani music world, some of the established and popular composers have still been steadfast and they have adapted and contributed with the same zeal and love for Konkani. Norbert Pereira is one such musician who despite being away from the native has regularly contributed in his own way.

His music albums ‘Love Hits’, ‘Konkani Pops’, ‘Tuzo-Muzo Mog’ , ‘Naach Naach’ , ‘Do Re Me Fa’ and ‘Moga Uthar’ (6 Volumes) have established him as one of the premier musicians and melodious singer of Konkani Music. Some of his compositions such as ‘Rita Mojha Moga’, ‘Prathver Kallok Mandtana’, ‘Mira Mira’, ‘Maria’, ‘Paavs’, ‘Shethkar’, ‘Dees ami Ashelho’, ‘Do Re M’ and ‘Senorita’ etc have gained popularity and have brought in a name and fame to him and have proved his immense talent. His distinct love for pop has always been the hallmark of compositions. He’s one of the first Konkani composers who tried to blend western music with the traditional Konkani music such as folk and baila and his success perhaps even prompted many more to introduce such experiments in Konkani. He composed his first song ‘Prathver Kallok Mandtana’, at the age of 19 years, which won many prizes during singing competitions. Even today bands are playing this number more frequently for functions in and around of Mangaluru.

His latest album ‘Do Re Me Fa,’ and ‘Moga Uthar’ has received good response and appreciation from Konkani community. For his melodious songs and contribution to music, Konkani Catholic Association (KCA) of Mysuru awarded him with title ‘Konkenecho Sangeeth Kuvor’. He is popularly known as Nobby, he has made the world of Konkani music richer and more proud.

His latest album Vol-6 ‘Moga Uthar’ release recently. He says, “This album too has soothing music and melodies to win the hearts of Konkani music lovers. I am sure these songs will remain popular like my other old melodies.”

During his college days, he won the Konkani Natak Sabha Mangaluru’s singing competition for solo and duet categories and also won many prizes for Hindi film songs during inter-college competitions. Even today, he admires old Hindi film songs and has presented three Hindi shows in Qatar Indian Embassy under the name ‘Yadhonka Safar’.

Norbert Pereira is originally from Angelore parish but presently belongs to Milagres parish, Mangaluru.

Norbert has performed a total of 22 Konkani shows in Mangaluru, Mysore, Doha, Kuwait, Dubai and USA. In addition to his solo performances, Norbert has performed with famous singers and composers like Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’souza and with many other younger singers too.

    Alfred Bennis has been in the forefront in supporting Konkani musicians. I was deeply moved by the simplicity displayed by the Bennis couple in one of Jude's DW247 shows.
