3 Indian cities named world's fastest growing cities list

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS): Three Indian cities have been listed as the world's fastest-growing urban ares, a survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) revealed.

Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kollam were the only three cities to make it to the top 10 of the world's fastest-growing cities.

Malappuram was ranked No. 1 in the world rankings with a 44.1 per cent change between 2015 and 2020. While Kozhikode was ranked fourth with 34.5 per cent change and Kollam was at number 10 with 31.1 per cent, the EIU survey revealed.

The other cities in the top 10 list were three cities from China, one each from Nigeria, Oman, UAE and Vietnam.

Other Indian cities that made the list were Thrissur in Kerala at 13th position, Gujarat's Surat at 26, while and Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur is at 30.

Taking to twitter, Industrialist Anand Mahindra, "Good to see that the fastest growing in India are not the monster metropolises, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata etc. When smaller towns & cities grow it signals that a wider distribution of wealth & job opportunities is underway. We need more smaller towns to Rise!"

Have tolerance to accept the fact. Appreciate the good deeds and come out from jealous and hatred. Appreciate their growth from a small town to big conglomerate. It was possible only because people are hard working and maintain integrity. Whereas look at our Mangalore's pathetic road conditions and Airport. In this way we will loose Airport within two years. Our representatives are not doing any work. They are busy in communal politics and fomenting hatred.

Do you even know what fastest growing city means? What do you mean by great achievement? It’s population explosion. Are they really literate when they can’t do family planning?

Oh my god! What a logic!By your logic, cities from UP would be in top 10.
You can google and read this news to educate yourself:
South India lags behind national fertility rate, slows population boom.

@Dheeraj, Kundapur may be u r right, there is no study done, whether the people moved from other nearby villages into small town or population explosion. But study says, the population finds jobs and stays in the smaller towns. There is stability, whatever you political affiliations, try to appreciate good things.
