Mangalore, Oct 6: The Panambur policemen here have succeeded in cracking a case, in which a load of hydrogenated oil, valued at around five lac rupees, meant to be delivered to the true owners, was stolen by the truck driver with the help of his friends and then sold to others. They have arrested Nayeemuddin (55) from Gujarat in this connection.

On June 2 this year, Rajashree Packers, functioning at Bykampady Industrial Area here, had dispatched 972 tins of hydrogenated fat, containing 15 kgs each, to Adoni Wilmar Ltd., located at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh by truck. But, Nayeemuddin from Anand district in Gujarat, the driver of a truck, who took the consignment, never delivered the stocks to the addressee. With the help of his friends, Yakub Jarda, Yasin Jarda and Dileep patel, he sold the stock to different persons and used the money earned in the process, for making merry.

Based on a complaint filed by Devadas Gatti, who had arranged for the truck, and Rajashree Transports, the policemen investigated the case. Under the guidance of Panambur sub-inspector of police Pramod Kumar P, the policemen went to Maharashtra and Gujarat in search of the offenders. They found that the truck on which the stock was loaded, had been stolen from Gujarat. It was used to transport the stock, by changing its number plate. When the truck came to the city, the other three, Yakub Jarda, Yasin Jarda and Dileep Patel, had come with the driver.

The policemen are now on the look out for the missing three. The accused was produced in the court, whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody.
