Feb 1 (Media Release): Players at Indian online casino sites have been treated a wealth of new games this month. As the New Year begins in earnest, Indian casinos have been the recipients of a swath of slot titles from some of the most reputable software providers around. This is set to continue for as long as India’s gambling laws remain largely unregulated.
NetEnt and Red Tiger Join Forces
Net Entertainment is regarded as one of the most reputable software developers serving up games to an Indian casino gaming audience. The biggest news coming out of the Scandinavian software provider this month will likely have a significant impact on games at Indian casino sites. Towards the end of January, NetEnt announced that they had acquired Red Tiger Gaming in a deal worth around £200 million.
This partnership is likely to see a variety of Red Tiger Gaming developed slots which were not available to Indian players suddenly spring up at your favourite Indian casino sites. Indeed, the acquisition and partnership are already bearing fruit.
NetEnt is one of the few software providers not to take full advantage of the leasable MegaWays engine from Big Time Gaming. However, Red Tiger has acquired this engine from BTG. NetEnt has wasted no time in doing something about it, as the two software providers have recently launched a revamped edition of one of NetEnt’s most loved progressive jackpot slots, Piggy Riches.
The newly renovated game features the same legendary slot action as its predecessor, although it now boasts the MegaWays engine. This means that as many as 117,649 paylines can appear at random on spins. The new release should be available to play right now at leading Indian casino sites.
Andar Bahar and Teen Patti Now Live
Indian players will also be able to get to grips with too much-loved traditional casino games this month, too. LeoVegas Casino is arguably one of the most reputable sites in the world, and they recently launched their operation on the sub-continent with the LeoVegas India site. The massive online casino provides Indian players with a wealth of games, and the ability to wager using the Indian rupee (INR) currency.
This month, LeoVegas India is home to two new live dealer titles from Ezugi. Teen Patti and Andar Bahar are hugely popular table games in the country, and now both can be played at the online casino. Both of the new releases can be played in English, but more importantly, Hindi. They are also compatible with Indian rupee currency.
Ezugi will be hoping that the launch of Andar Bahar will give them a foothold in the Indian market. Speaking on the launch of the game, Lionel Dardic, Ezugi’s Head of Games commented that, “Andar Bahar has always been a popular game for many Indian gambling aficionados".
Speaking on the launch of Ezugi’s Teen Patti game, Pang Goh, the Business Development Director said, “the game, though finds its roots in the English game of three-card brag and a slight hint of Poker, it cannot shake off its Indianness, and that is what we are banking on to become a huge hit.”
Both table games should be playable at LeoVegas’ Indian online casino this month. You can read all about the popular online casino with this complete Leovegas review by Lucky Dice.
Don’t Panic, There Won’t Be a Blanket Ban
There had been a cause for concern that India would introduce harsh new laws prohibiting online gambling. However, earlier this year, those plans seemed to fall through. If the Indian online gambling sector remains open, players can expect to see a flurry of new games coming their way in 2020. This certainly appears to be the case for now, following a high court ruling in December. Any plans to issue a blanket ban on gambling in the country were snuffed out by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, who commented that a ban would require a specific definition of “games of skill”.
At present, many Indian states have their own rules regarding what are games of skill, and games of chance. Moreover, the Reserve Bank of India stated that they have already done all they can to prevent online gambling transactions. On top of that, the National Capital Territory of Delhi claimed that it only has the authority to regulate interior online gambling enterprises based within its own territories and cannot ban offshore casinos or those located in other Indian states. For the time being at least, it seems that online gambling is safe, alive and well in the country.
