Mangalore, Oct 16: The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti staged a protest in the city, against what it termed as ‘Love Jehad,’ alleging that this is a new weapon being used by a particular religious group, to convert girls belonging to other religions, after ensnaring them in love. The protest was held  in front of the office of the deputy commissioner of the district, on Thursday October 15, with the support of several other organizations.

Organizations like Sanathana Samste, Dharma Shakti Sene, Nyayalayadallina Anyaya Nivarana Samiti, Hindu Yuva Sene, Yuva Shakthi, Sri Rama Sene, GSB Mahila Balaga, and Ranaragini, supported the protest.

The protestors demanded for the immediate intervention of government to protect the Hindu girls from the clutches of the ‘Love Jehadis’ and also from the religious fundamentalists.

“The girls from the Hindu community are attracted by the Muslim religious fundamentalists with the specific objective of converting them to their religion,” said Lakshmi Pai, leader of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

She alleged that the girls from the Hindu community are being targetted by the Love Jehadis to execute their hidden agenda. Poor girls are being made scapegoats while executing their plans, clearly aimed at achieving religious conversions, she said and demanded that this covertive practice should be stopped at once by the policemen, by keeping eye on the institutions in which the Hindu girls work or study.

The protestors with placards in their hands, demanded for immediate action by the government in redressing their grievances.
