Puttur, Aug 5: The Uppinangady police arrested a 24-year-old accused, Sohail alias Sohib, originally from Hassan, who had been absconding for the past five years in connection with multiple theft cases.
Sohail has been named in a total of eight theft cases. Two separate cases were registered against him at the Uppinangady police station in 2020 and 2022, while one case each was registered at Bantwal town police station and Ullal police station in 2020. Additionally, a case was filed against him in 2022 at the Kannapuram police station in Kerala.

He was recently residing in Talapady, Mangaluru, but later shifted his location. Police traced him to Bittagowdanahalli in Hassan district, where he was arrested and produced before the court.
The arrest operation was carried out under the leadership of Uppinangady SI Kaushik, with the assistance of personnel Shivaram, Shreeshaila, and Mohammad Maulana.
