Mangalore, Oct 16:
The annual sports meet of St Agnes College here, was inaugurated by S Ramesh, additional superintendent of police of Dakshina Kannada district, on Friday October 16.

Speaking after declaring the sports meet open, S Ramesh said that the sports and games are part of life. Participation in games and sports makes the students active, which in turn, builds a capacity in them to face the challenges in all walks of life, he reasoned. Students and managements of institutions must give enough importance to sports and games, in addition to formal education, he advised.

He added that the failure in any particular event strengthens in the concerned, a resolve to win in another event. A person who experiences failure can hope to win the next time. A loser enjoys the success more than a sports person who wins in his first attempt, Ramesh pointed out. The sport which relaxes body and the mind also helps the concerned to study. The sports personalities enjoy facing challenges in a sportive manner, he said.

Sr Marie Prem D Souza AC, principal of the college, honoured the judges of the march past. Fenella Andrade, sports secretary of the Students Union administered the sports oath.

Sr Maria Kripa A C, local manager of the college and sports vice- president, Floric Lobo, were also present.
