Mangalore: Coast Guards Rescue Boat with  Five fishermen

Mangalore, Nov 12: Coast guard officials managed to locate a boat which was reported missing in bad weather  and successfully rescued five fishermen along with their boat after massive search oprations in the high seas  on Thursday November 12.  The intense search was conducted after the coast guards received information from various sources and local fishermen associations.
 
The boat MFV Zena the rescued boat, which had left the old port  in the city, on Saturday, November 7 early morning was caught under the cyclonic storm Phyam on the high seas. There were total of 7 crew members on the boat MFV Zena, two managed to reach the shore earlier  with the help of  another fishing boat. The other five were in the sea and failed to move towards sea shore, due to bad weather, were rescued by the coastguard with massive and brave search operations

 






















The boat skipper  Muniyan, resident of Ramanathapuram in Tamilnadu and his fishermen crew reached shore, with the help and efforts of coast guard officials. The other two fishermen who reached the shore on Tuesday,November 10, informed its owner, the owner in turn tried to send a rescue boat but due to inclement weather conditions was not able to do so and ultimately asked the help of the Coast Guards, who managed to locate the boat at 14 nautical miles from Malpe Sea Shore near Udupi..
 
The coastguard team led by its Commandant Arun, carried out intense search operation with their Interceptor boat C-114 and the ill fated  boat was towed and brought to New Mangalore port.   
 
Commandant Arun said that total six fishing boats were in trouble in the rough seas due to the cyclone and they  managed to find  and rescue its entire crew with the boat with assistance of coast guards, coastal police staff along  coast of Kochi in Kerala  to Surath in Gujarath and the air units were also deployed in search operations which successfully managed to rescue the troubled fishermen.
