Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)
Mangalore, Nov 13: “‘Love Jehad’ is an expression coined by the Sangh Parivar outfits and vested interests, to break the unity and harmony existing between the Hindus and the Muslims. People should make honest efforts to defeat these forces,” exhorted Assistant Kazi of Mangalore, Tokha Ahmed Musliyar.
He was speaking after inaugurating an awareness meet against ‘Love Jehad’, organized by Muslim Central Committee in the city on Thursday November 12.
“Hinduism, which has a very long history, has always advocated an all-encompassing human religion that lays stress on righteousness. None of the issues for which Hinduism stands for, are against the tenets of Islam. No genuine followers of this holy religion can nurse hatred against other groups or religions,” he opined.
He said that Islam does not permit forcible conversion or conversion through enticement of people, into it. Islam is not an institution which aims at increasing the number of its members. If someone who is either a Muslim or not, believes that this is the aim of Islam, they are misinformed, he asserted.
The assistant Kazi pointed out that the Kerala police have already confirmed that there is no ‘Love Jehad’ as such.
Muslim Central Committee president, K S Mohammed Masood, presided. Prof Pattabhirama Somayaji, and journalist, B M Hanif, participated as main speakers.
President of Dakshina Kannada Wakf Committee, Y Mohammed Kunhi, Goltamajal Abdul Khader, Moosa, Basha Saheb, former city mayor Ashraf etc., were present.
Committee vice-president, Ibrahim Kodijal, welcomed. General secretary, Mohammed Hanif, proposed vote of thanks. Lawyer Salmara Nooruddin compered the programme.
