Bantwal, Mar 11: It is difficult to believe that incidents such as these occur in the district of intellectuals. A member of gram panchayat reportedly indulged in black magic in cooperative bank premises with the help of black magician in order to win cooperative bank elections.
The incident took place at Sarapady, Bantwal. Gram panchayat member Adam Kunhi and magician Umesh Shetty conducted the act. However, they apologised as the matter went public.
A glass bottle was found in the bank premises on March 7. As black magic was suspected on the onset, the management of the bank verified the footage in the CCTV. It was clear by the pictures captured in the CCTV that Adam Kunhi and Umesh Shetty had brought and kept the glass bottle near cooperative society boundary wall on February 19 at 9.47 pm.
The duo admitted their fault upon questioning and apologised in the special meeting of the association held on Tuesday, March 10.
In a written apology, they confessed that they had indulged in black magic to win in the cooperative bank elections and that they will not repeat such mistakes.
The cooperative association elections were held on February 23 and their opponents, the BJP supported candidates were declared victorious.
