Mangaluru, Mar 11: A woman and two children sustained injuries after the two-wheeler they were travelling fell into a ditch. The accident happened on Yeyyadi road connecting to Land Links on Wednesday, March 11.

Ashwini was riding the scooter with Ananya A (11) and Ananya V (12) as pillions. The road connecting to Land Links has a slope. Ashwini who was getting the children back from school, lost control over the vehicle while riding on the slope and took the scooter into the ditch.

All three injured were shifted to a private hospital.

Reacting to the accident, local corporator Ranjini said the newly built compound wall is causing traffic congestion. “Two vehicles cannot pass at a time and the road also has a slope. The compound wall has become the root cause for problems and an inconvenience to the public. We have raised a demand to demolish the compound wall. Just two days ago we had complained to the concerned authorities. If the issue was addressed, the accident would not have happened and three people would not have sustained injuries,” she said.

Shubha, a resident of the area said, "Till today we do not know who owns the land where the compound wall is built. The person also is not coming forward. Two lawyers and a social worker are behind the construction of this compound wall, due to which road has become more congested. We have complained to MCC, mayor, and police. We urge the land owner to come forward so that the issue can be immediately resolved.”

The compound wall is well away from the road and only 2 bricks high, and the road is wide enough for two vehicles to pass esp.if one of them is a 2 wheeler.

Parents are in a hurry to drop children to school and back home and in this case they were also riding triple. Anyway we wish all the three a speedy recovery.

Must be they forgot triple ride is not allowed on two wheelers. Doubt they all wearing helmets. Absolutely careless. Because it's not on the main road tends to break the rules.
