Mangaluru, Mar 12: At a time when people are busy rescheduling or cancelling their tour programmes on account of scare created by coronavirus pandemic, Mangalore University has organised an educational trip to Goa beginning this Sunday. It is said that the students and teaching staff who were slated to be a part of this trip have agreed to join the trip reluctantly.

Parents of the students are worried. They question the rationale behind organizing the tour at a time when even examinations are being cancelled and people are advised against moving around too much. Some sources said that the lecturers are compelled to fall in line as instructions have come from important quarters.

In the meantime, university registrar A M Khan, has clarified that the head of the department concerned has been advised to postpone the proposed trip and that further communication will come from the concerned.

Dakshina Kannada district consultant for tourism department Sudhir Gowda, said that there are no restrictions on going on tour in the state but that tour cruise ships face restrictions. He said that people going to places have to follow precautions as advised by health department.
